FLOWER FEST 2010 *Spring Open House* 9am - 6pm

This is what we've been waiting for! Gather at the garden center for a sensory overload.... Touch the bright blooming plants & rich soil, see the unique new garden art & fresh home décor, here the birds chirping & the music flowing, smell the new fragrances of our soy candles & natural soaps, taste the brats & burgers right off the grill. We will have bouquets of FRESH FLOWERS for purchase too! Be sure you sign-up to win special prizes. We look forward to seeing you!

Planting Party 6pm FREE

Let's plant up your containers! Bring in your planter (or purchase one here) and we will fill it with flowers for you to enjoy the whole summer through! Gail Bruegge, a plant specialist, will teach you how to choose the right plants for your container according to your sun exposure, how to plant, and how to take care of your planter & keep it lookin' good all year. This is a FREE event, just pay for plants/materials used.

Fun with Succulents 6pm $30
Dorene Schuster, our landscape designer, will teach you how to create a living masterpiece using a collection of succulents in a planter or wreath. By using different textures and colors we will put together a planter that will not only dazzle and impress, but be very low maintenance and easy to care for. You have the option to plant a rock container or wreath. (You may also bring your container own or purchase one here)

Glenn Spevacek 6pm $5

Glen Spevacek, past director of the Green Bay Botanical Garden & Horticulture Specialist, will be talking about spectacular perennial combinations that he has found through his travels and experiences, for us to utilize in our own landscapes. He is a fascinating speaker; Sure to inspire as well as give a plethora of valuable information.

Grilling Appetizers with John Lutgen
6pm $TBD
Jonh Lutgen, a Home Ec. Teacher at Wrightstown High School, will be stepping out of the classroom and onto the patio! John will be demonstrating how to cook some mouth-watering appetizers on the grill using fresh herbs and spices. The class with take place in the outdoor kitchen at our garden center. There will be lots to learn and lots to taste test! Weather permitting.

Bus Trip: Door County House & Garden Walk - $45
How 'bout a little get-a-way? Take a day to stroll through a showcase of five magnificent homes and gardens in beautiful Door County. This is their 50th annual house & garden walk, benefiting the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The bus will leave the garden center at 8:00am, a break for lunch around noon, and will arrive back at the garden center around 5:30pm. There is limited space available. First come, first serve. The fee covers the coach bus and ticket for the walk. You will be given an itinerary prior to the trip.

Mad Dog & Merrill at the Sunset Garden Party 6:30-9pm
$5.00 for tickets purchased in advance, $7.00 at the door. Sun setting, tiki torches burning, music playing, people laughing, Mad Dog & Merrill grilling delicious appetizers… the wine is poured, the desserts are cut… now all we need is you to come and enjoy it all! This will be an evening of fun and more fun! We hope you don't miss it! (Rain or shine)

Explore the magic of leaves as we
create one-of-a-kind concrete garden sculptures! Expert David Calhoon, as seen on The Wisconsin Gardener with Shelley Ryan on PBS, will be instructing us on how to do it. It's going to be a lot of fun! All supplies will be provided. Limited spots available. First come, first serve.

Guest speaker and bulb expert, Richard Walsh, will talk about the latest trends, answer questions and inspire ideas on what bulbs to plant in your own yard!

Advanced Leaf Casting with David Calhoon
Learn new tricks & advanced techniques of leaf casting! You will even learn how to press inserts into your leaf for something extra special. David will provide all sorts of fun and intresting inserts for you to choose from. These beautiful garden sculptures can make wonderful gifts too! (Note: the inserts are sold seperate from the class)

Wine & Cheese Tasting with
Kerrigan Brothers 1pm - 4pm $2
What a fun way to spend a Fall Saturday afternoon! Get out in the crisp cool air and over to our shop…where you can warm up by tasting some fantastic wines and cheeses provided by the Kerrigan Brothers Winery. While you are here you can check out the new Fall décor for inside your home. And we will have plenty of pumpkins, mums, corn stalks & more for you to take home for your front yard displays!

Silk Scarves with Botanical Dyes 6pm $20
Create beautifully dyed silk scarves using common garden plants, as well as grocery store finds such as blueberries and tea leaves. Dorene Schuster will guide you through an easy technique that you can confidently repeat at home. You will practice all the steps - starting with dying and then learn to finish the scarves. It will be a fun accessory to your own wardrobe or a neat gift.

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas! Bring the kiddies and get their photo taken with merry ole Kris Kringle. He will be taking toy requests from all the good little girls and boys. Santa will surely have treats for all.
